Vigil of the Nativity of Our Lord - Christmas Even

Introit - Today ye shall know that the Lord cometh, and he shall save you; and in the morning, then ye shall see his glory. The earth is the Lord's, and all that therein is; the compass of the world, and they that dwell therein. (Gloria Patri).

The Collect - O God, who makest us glad with the yearly expectation of the birth of thine only Son Jesus Christ: Grant that as we joyfully receive him for our Redeemer, so we may with sure confidence behold him when he shall come to be our judge; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

The Lesson - 2 Samuel 7:1-16

The Gradual - Today ye shall know that the Lord cometh, and he shall save us, and in the morning, then ye shall see his glory. Hear, O thou Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock, show thyself also, thou that sittest upon the Cherubim, before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.

Alleluia - Alleluia, alleluia. Tomorrow the iniquity of the world shall be done away, and the Saviour of the world shall reign over us. Alleluia.

The Holy Gospel - St. Luke 1:67-79
